Plein Air Painting Day at Cromford, Derbyshire

I went out painting en plein air at Cromford, Derbyshire yesterday.  It was quite a challenge as it is not something I normally do.  I really enjoyed it though and plan to go out more often to paint in the landscape, especially now the weather is improving.  Here are the paintings - both of the same scene with different coloured grounds.

Exhibition News

So sorry I haven't written a post for ages - I will try and post more regularly and I am thinking of creating and posting a painting a day for the next month.  I don't know how realistic this will be but I can give it a try.  In the meantime, here are a few pictures from my exhibition at The Erewash Museum, Ilkeston, Derbyshire which runs from 7-28 May 2015.

Altering Paintings

Sometimes you can think that a painting is finished and then the next time you see it you just have to adjust it.  This was one of those paintings.  It was the subject of a recent post (see below) and has now morphed into this painting after many more layers and glazes of paint.

Feeling Floral

Here is a detail photo of an abstract floral work in progress - it feels a little cold at the moment so I think I shall be warming it up a bit next time I am in the studio.
